Are Wondercide Outdoor Sprays safe for beneficial bugs like praying mantis, fireflies, or ladybugs?Updated 24 days ago
Wondercide is powered by cedarwood oil, which affects octopamine. This is essential to life for pheromone-driven pests like fleas and ticks. Beneficial insects don’t rely on octopamine for their vital systems and are not affected by our sprays in the same way.
When used as directed, the residue from Wondercide is safe for fireflies, ladybugs, and other beneficial bugs like bees and butterflies. Because fireflies and ladybugs are beetles, saturating them with our yard sprays can harm them. These bugs don’t typically live on lawns or in gardens, so they’re unlikely to be affected when keeping your yard protected with Wondercide.
We have not done specific testing on praying mantis, but Wondercide products work to disrupt the chemical receptors that most non-beneficial insects use to breathe, control heart rate, and more. To keep these bugs safe, spray when they are not active whenever possible. Usually, this means early in the morning or afternoon.
